About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply to your use of the Code For Bharat website (www.codeforbharat.org) and your participation in the Code For Bharat community and projects. By using the website or taking part, you agree to these Terms.

Code For Bharat is a volunteer community that builds digital and IT solutions for Bharat. It is an initiative of Mayash Foundation. In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Code For Bharat and Mayash Foundation.

The website is free to use. You do not need an account, and we do not charge for community membership, events or participation.

This website may be shown in other languages for convenience. If a translation differs from the English text, the English text prevails.

Community Guidelines

Our Values

  • Seva (Service): Technology for social good and community benefit
  • Innovation: Creative solutions for India's unique challenges
  • Collaboration: Inclusive, respectful, and transparent cooperation

We expect everyone in the community to:

  • Communicate respectfully and professionally
  • Respect intellectual property and project licenses
  • Give constructive feedback and support fellow contributors
  • Follow each project's contribution guidelines

We may remove content or restrict participation if someone breaks these guidelines.

Ownership of Contributions

Everything contributed to Code For Bharat projects, including code, designs, documentation, content and ideas, is owned by Mayash Foundation.

  • Assignment: By contributing, you assign to Mayash Foundation all rights, title and interest, including copyright, in your contribution, to the extent the law allows. Where a right cannot be assigned, you give Mayash Foundation an exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide and royalty-free licence to use, change, publish and license it.
  • Credit: We will always credit contributors clearly by name, for example in project repositories, contributor lists and release notes, unless you ask us not to name you.
  • Open or closed source: Mayash Foundation decides whether each project is released as open source (and under which license) or kept closed source, depending on the project's needs and its partners' requirements.

Only contribute work that you created or have the right to share, and do not add code or content that breaks someone else's rights or license. Third-party open-source components keep their own licenses.

Website Content

Unless stated otherwise, the text, design, logos and the Code For Bharat name on this website belong to Mayash Foundation. You may share and link to our pages. Please do not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you or your work without our written permission.
